BRUCE DREANY

PRESIDENT

Bruce Dreany has worked in the oil and gas, power generation and firefighting industries for over 25 years. For the past 18 years he has been with the Edmonton Fire Department, specifically the technical rescue and water rescue teams. As a Captain his leadership skills are put to the test daily in high stress situations. He is a technician in rope rescue, confined space, trench collapse, structural collapse, swift/static water and ice rescue and has instructed in these areas internationally. His real life experience is a tremendous asset.

Prior to joining the Edmonton Fire Department Bruce worked in industry pipefitting in new construction of gas plants and pipelines. His military background has given Bruce the discipline to focus and effectively get the job done in a safe and efficient manner.

Bruce is also a proud member of the Metis Nation of Alberta and has worked with First Nation communities around northern Alberta. Being a burn survivor, support to the burn treatment center is of importance to Bruce.

Kirby Smith

CA, CPA CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Kirby has over 23 years of experience in the financial operations of public and private companies including 12 years in senior management positions with Western Canadian based service companies within the energy, construction and power generation industries. Kirby understands how critical a safe work place is and the importance of management visibility and leading by example in support of a strong corporate safety program.

Having been born and raised in Alberta, Kirby knows the benefits and challenges we have in the Western Canadian marketplace and believes in being a customer focused business.

Kirby holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta and is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Professional Accountant.

Brad Normandeau

SAFETY/OPERATIONS MANAGER

As an accomplished Health & Safety professional both in the field and at a management level, Brad has a proven track record of reducing hazards and risk on both small and large projects alike. He is a tenacious problem solver and possesses excellent personal skills including conflict resolution with a strong ability to de-fuse confrontations. In brief, his expertise includes: Occupational Health & Safety legislation interpretation, Health & Safety procedure and practice building, substantial emergency response background, project management, accident investigation, hazard assessment, training program development & delivery, claims management and industrial hygiene.

Brad is known within the safety industry as a problem solver and designer of methods that evoke participation from all levels to build acceptance; He has a proven ability to manage all levels of Health & Safety projects in multiple industries including construction and various heavy industry environments. Brad has successfully managed budgets in excess of $5 million that have remained current with applicable resources and technology.

Accidents are generally preventable; however, accidents do happen and crucial first response can be the difference between life and serious injury, even death. Our rescue professionals deal with a variety of rescues, every day, it’s our livelihood.
